Over 430 local corporate and civic leaders gathered today in the International Center of the Broadmoor Hotel to celebrate the culmination of the 2009-2010 Pikes Peak United Way Campaign. And celebrate they did, as Pikes Peak United Way announced an annual impact of:
130,000 lives changed or saved
3,600 volunteers engaged
and
$5.4 million dollars raised
Over the past six years, Pikes Peak United Way has raised over $33 million, working with its 42 partner agencies to provide programs and services that assisted over 700,000 people in need in the community.
“We have a lot to celebrate,” said JD Dallager, president/CEO of Pikes Peak United
Way. However, our measure of success goes far beyond dollars and cents. It’s about proven impact and results – sustainable change that improves the quality of life for those who reside in our community.”
“Spirit of Caring” awards - sponsored by Colorado Springs Utilities - were bestowed on UMB Bank (small market), Costco Wholesale (medium market) and USAA (large market) for outstanding campaign performance and volunteerism. In addition, Neumann Systems Group was cited as the Best First-Time Campaign and Mark Zamora from School District 2 was named “Volunteer of the Year.”
Thanks go out to Tom Naughton and staff of US Bank and Jim Cleary and the staff of El Paso Western Pipelines for their sponsorship of the event.
